North Quabbin Fall Festival – Sept. 15! Yes, we will be there! 9-4 in downtown Athol. Put it on your calendar! Christian Education and Mission get together to provide activities for children and time with community! Would it make a difference in our community if the Athol Congregational Church disappeared? How would your life be different? What parts of our community would miss our presence and service? As the fall activities begin – how can each of us make a difference?
Plan now for another year of dinners together at church on the first Friday of each month! With the great effort of Don Risatti, businesses throughout the North Quabbin have given financial support for these meals that bring community together. Whether you join us for a delicious meal or choose to help out with serving, there is always room for you at Community Meal! Bring a friend on Sept. 7, 2018.
Recent weeks had found the ladies busy preparing for their “Home and Garden” Booths at the Country Fair – and at our wrap-up meeting on June 4th we decided to discount some of our over-stock and leftovers to sell at the June Breakfast Tag Sale and June 23rd.
During worship on June 10th, Rev. Beverly led us in re-dedicating the Ladies Parlor, recognizing the past and present members of Women’s Fellowship and the committee of Barbara Herbert, Joy Risatti, Sharon Smith and Katie Thiem. On behalf of the group, all the ladies of the church were thanked for their efforts and support in baking, making crafts and working at our fairs and events throughout the years. During Rev. Beverly’s dedication she made special mention of the original women’s “Trotty Veck” group and of Blanche Thomas and Judy Wirth – as we have placed Judy’s beautifully framed needlework portrait of Jesus in a place of honor in the newly redecorated parlor.
Also on June 10th we included a farewell get-together for our dear friends Katie and Bill Thiem, as they begin a new chapter of their lives in Wisconsin with their sons Jon and Zach. Godspeed…you will certainly be missed!
Women’s Fellowship has voted to reorganize a bit, and beginning in Sept. we will have leaders in place to guide us in different phases of our meetings. Marna Sampognaro (along with a co-chair) will be the leaders for our fall session – with Joy Risatti and Lisa Pollock organizing crafts, Susan O’Connor leading devotions; Taylor Badgley, secretary (assisted by Susan O’Connor); Sharon Smith, treasurer, Rebecca Badgley, asst. treasurer; and Debbie Phelps as coordinator for refreshments. Have a wonderful summer – and see you on September 17th – 6:30pm in the Ladies Parlor.
